Geothermal power

The Earth's natural heat is used to generate electricity.

Geothermal power stations are similar to thermal power stations, but the source of heating is not a boiler or  nuclear reactor, but underground natural heat. The shortcoming of such power plants is that their application is geographically limited: geothermal stations are cost-effective only in regions of tectonic activity, where natural sources of heat are available.
